Roy Taylor

In March this year Malthouse Engineering Managing Director Roy Taylor has reached a milestone of 36 years with the company, matching the previous Managing Director Bert Hands who had been in place since the formation of the firm in 1947.

Roy joined the company in 1983 as Managing Director and went onto lead a management buyout in 1986. When he joined, Malthouse specialised in making small fabrications and architectural goods. Over the years Roy focused the company on flame cutting and lumsden grinding has grown the company via 14 acquisitions into the UKs leading provider of flame cut steel profiles supplying over 42 sectors of British Industry.

Highlights for Roy over the last 36 years include being awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Wolverhampton, leading the industry trade association NASS (National Association of Steel Service Centres) and hosting a range of politicians at Malthouse including Charles Kennedy and Betty Boothroyd.
